Mirror Image, 2010:
Lohnes uses broken mirror pieces reassembled to form a mosaic-like, patterned wall on a human scale. The uneven surfaces reflect distortions and repetitions of the viewer, each shard representing a part or fractal of visual information. Repeated features appear at different angles or go missing entirely depending on the location of the viewer. Close up a more fully realized image with only slight anomalies appears. The reproduced representation of the viewer created in Lohnes’ mirror wall lacks continuity, fragmenting the body and portraying the multitude of facets to be found in the human psyche. |
